Clinical and Social Work Experience
I began my psychotherapy private practice in January of 2020. Prior to this, I worked in a range of settings and provided a variety of social work services. In an inpatient psychiatric hospital, I provided psychotherapy and case management to patients and their families. I began in the general mental health wing and then progressed to the hospital's PTSD unit as I became more specialized in trauma treatment. I also worked with patients experiencing substance use and co-occurring disorders.
After my time at the hospital, I was a social worker for a nonprofit organization that provided services for veterans and their families. In this position, I offered supportive counseling, trauma therapy, and case management; as well as working in program coordination and development. I worked specifically with individuals who had experienced trauma, from combat trauma to military sexual assault. I developed and implemented the organization's Women Veterans program.
While in graduate school, I provided school counseling in an elementary school. My path to social work began before that with volunteering at a domestic abuse agency.

At times in life, we find ourselves overwhelmed; in states of persistent mental or emotional distress, stuck in patterns that no longer serve us, and questioning which path best serves us. With greater consciousness of our patterns of thought, feeling and behavior, we can develop the capacity to meet these moments with the wisdom of our whole selves. By connecting more fully to our emotions, we can access our innate healing process and move towards greater integration. In honoring your unique story, we can explore how life’s suffering may be pointing you towards greater wholeness and a life of meaning.
I believe all people deserve respect and care and I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space where you can show up however you are. I integrate a variety of lenses including relational, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches all within the context of trauma-informed care. I am a Level 1 AEDP Therapist. Working collaboratively, we will sort through the challenges and symptoms you are experiencing and explore the questions you are holding.

I also work as a therapist at the LGBT Center’s Outpatient Substance Use Program. Prior to training as a therapist, I spent the bulk of my career working internationally in humanitarian and refugee assistance.
I’ve worked with diverse populations facing a range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, substance use and Chemsex, and trauma; as well as issues related to sexual and gender identity, body image and relationships of all kinds. I have specific experience with the LGBTQIA+ community and a professional background that has acquainted me with the unique challenges of working internationally in crisis and conflict zones.

You have a past, a present, and a future, and for many, the distinction between the three is difficult to untangle. Past traumas, strained relationships, social and structural challenges slow you and it becomes a challenge to draw on your own strength and resiliency. Whether you are working through life transitions, dealing with depression, anxiety, physical and emotional trauma, career issues, or relationship struggles, we will remain open to the possibilities of now and allow you the clarity to write your own future.
As a therapist, I look to build a safe environment for you to work through the threads of your life. I come from a relational background that is interested in how your past affects the connections you make now while remaining grounded in mindfulness and somatic awareness. Understanding the linkage between your environment, your past, and how it all manifests in your body can act as a powerful foundation to allow you to become embodied, authentic, and wholly the person you want to be.

I have a diverse clinical background supporting working artists and creative professionals, providing support and care to members of the LGBTQAI+ community, and trauma-informed care to teachers during the first year and a half of the COVID pandemic. Finding the right therapist for you can be vulnerable and challenging. I hope to work with you collaboratively to help you figure out whether we could be a good fit. I’m a queer, transgender, Jewish, NY-based therapist offering individual counseling via Telehealth. I believe that my clients are the experts in their own lives and my role is to empower them with skills to regulate emotions and get deeper in touch with the wisdom of the body. I have a profound commitment to helping my clients work through trauma and build lives that they are excited about. As a therapist, I work collaboratively with clients using somatic and evidence-based approaches such as DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing), Parts Work, and Polyvagal Theory. I deeply value working within an anti-oppression based framework. In addition to working with clients who identify as TGNC and/or queer, I specialize in working with folks who struggle with anxiety and depression and who are in recovery from substance use. I use a collaborative, individualized approach that honors your unique recovery goals.

Clinical and Social Work Experience
In addition to Magnolia Psychotherapy, I work as a therapist at the LGBTQ Center’s Youth Substance Use Treatment Program in New York City, providing individual and group counseling to a wide range of young people struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, and Complex PTSD.
Through my social work training, I facilitated mindfulness groups with older adults living at the YWCA in Brooklyn and provided therapeutic interventions around interpersonal family dynamics and childhood trauma. I also worked at a high school in Brooklyn, where I updated individual educational plans and provided individual and group counseling.
Before obtaining my MSW, I worked with young people in foster care to find employment and to build community. I am trained in crisis intervention, case management, and psychoeducational group facilitation.
I have community organizing experience working on racial and transgender justice campaigns. I trained leaders from various organizations in outreach strategy, direct action, security and de-escalation. Working on both the micro and macro levels are vital to my therapeutic approach in building a more just world.

Therapy can feel like an elusive concept, one that supposedly provides a solution for emotional struggles if you do it the “right way.” I believe in an individualized approach to therapy, because there is no “right way”; there is only the way that makes the most sense for you. I am certified in LGBTQ-affirmative CBT and have experience using IFS, motivational interviewing and somatic approaches, but more importantly I use what I learn about you to help us collaborate effectively on your mental health.
I hold a CASAC-T and specialize in recovery and harm reduction, as well as working with clients who struggle with anxiety and depression. I also hold a Masters in Sociology and believe that none of us are untouched by the systemic issues at play, which informs a critical lens to my work.
My other specialties include sexuality/gender identity development, non-monogamy and relationship anarchy, sex work-affirming therapy and body neutrality. Finally, I believe in truly establishing if we are a good fit before committing to an ongoing therapeutic relationship. I trust that we can figure out together if we are the right match.

In addition to seeing clients through Magnolia Psychotherapy, I also work as a Substance Use Treatment Counselor at The LGBT Community Center of New York City. There, I have worked with both adolescents and adults on recovery goals related to substance use, as well as on more general life goals. I have experience with crisis management and my work is trauma-informed.
Before becoming a social worker, I ran a charity that provided free storage to LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. I have worked with diverse populations, not just in social work and non-profit project management, but also as a middle school teacher in New Orleans. I am comfortable working with adults and youth on the wide range of issues that impact both populations.

Psychotherapist
I have deep respect for the courage it takes to engage in therapy, and I believe the therapeutic relationship can offer a space for healing and personal transformation. My work is motivated by the belief that exploring and attending to past wounds can allow us to meet our present experience with acceptance and move forward from a place of wholeness and authenticity. I see therapy as a collaborative, evolving process that centers safety, trust, non-judgment, and connection.
My approach is holistic, person-centered, and integrative. I’m anti-oppressive and intersectional, acknowledging the dynamic and layered ways our social identities shape our experiences, including in therapy. I honor how you show up while inviting you to consider new perspectives and connect with a fuller range of emotions that may provide insight into unmet needs and inner wisdom. I welcome explorations of the complicated, unknown, and seemingly contradictory parts of yourself.
Using relational, psychodynamic, experiential, and somatic approaches within the context of trauma-informed care, I tailor our work to your needs. I’m a Level 1 AEDP therapist. It would be an honor to learn more about you and explore how your unique experiences have shaped your needs, wants, and goals.
